Panera Chocolate Chip Cookie

I’ve been a big fan of Panera. They serve quality food at a great price, and have yet to disappoint me… that is, until today. I got hungry one evening, as usually happens every evening, and decided I wanted some Panera.

At the time, I was working the evening shift at my job and was unable to drive out and get food. Luckily, Panera somewhat recently started offering delivery, so I placed an order. I ordered a sandwich, and of course, a cookie. That evening I decided to go for the chocolate chip selection, as they were sold out of most of the other types.

The order was estimated to arrive within 30 minutes, but ended up taking over an hour. However, this is a cookie review not a complete restaurant review, so back to the topic at hand.

When I first picked up the cookie I could feel that it was still warm, but oddly hard.

As I slid the cookie out of it’s paper packaging I noticed it contained a plethora of chocolate chips. This is something I usually find favorable in a cookie, however there were just too many to handle. In the center of the cookie it felt like I was just eating straight chocolate.

The outer rim of the cookie was comprised of a more reasonable spread of chocolate chips, but the cookie itself was so hard that I had to put in some effort to chew it.

Overall, the Panera chocolate chip cookie had a great look and seemed promising at first, but ultimately failed miserably in the texture department thus ruining the taste. This could have been a fluke by Panera, but these cookies only get one chance to impress me, and I have to say, unless I become diabetic and have no choice but to eat a Panera cookie to raise my blood sugar levels I probably will not be eating another one.
