I’d first like to apologize to my loyal fans for using a stock image of the Subway oatmeal raisin cookie. It’s been a while since I reviewed a cookie and I forgot to take a picture. For the last couple years I’ve been eating cookies with no regard for the blog. It was fun, but I have learned that eating cookies without writing a blog post leads to a very unfulfilling life. At a certain point the cookies stopped satiating me. Some people like to pair their cookies with milk, but since I’m lactose intolerant, I must pair my cookies with a blog post in order to feel fulfilled.
So without further ado, this is the beginning of my new beginning in the cookie review business. Here is my review of the Subway oatmeal raisin cookie:
I know many people are not fans of oatmeal raisin cookies, but I hope that through these reviews I may start to shift public opinion about these underrated circles of dry fruit and oats. I also believe that oatmeal raisin cookies may be the key to solving our obesity epidemic given that they are arguably the healthiest type of cookie on the market.
I bought this cookie for lunch and was planning to pair it with a subway footlong sandwich, however, due to being in a rush I was forced to eat the sandwich and save the cookies for consumption at a later time. So, full disclosure, the cookies were sitting out for a few hours which may have decreased the quality of taste.
When I did finally engulf the confection with my salivary mouth I was pleased by the softness and moisture content. With oatmeal raisin cookies moisture content is especially important to ensure that the dry taste of the oats isn’t overpowering. There was a good mix of raisins, not too many, not too little. I will say there was not a plethora of oats. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but can it still be considered a true oatmeal raisin if it is not drowning in oats? I suppose that is subjective. I believe a cookie must decide what it is. Oatmeal raisin or sugar cookie. Chocolate chip or white macadamia. No in-between.
While I can’t say much bad about this cookie, there is also not much that stood out to me. I never said wow, I never said mmm, I said hmm it’s good.
